NAAIA Partners with RIMS to Host DEI Opportunities at 2023 RISKWORLD in Atlanta

Join NAAIA for its workshops, reception and community meet up!

Washington, DC – The National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) announces its partnership with RIMS, the risk management society®️, to host diversity, equity and inclusion programming at its 2023 RISKWORLD®️ on April 30 – May 3 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Hailed as the center of the risk management universe, RISKWORLD boasts over 10,000 attendees and 300 speakers from around the world and empowers risk professionals to make the world safer, more secure, and more sustainable. 

“We are thrilled to elevate our long-standing friendship with RIMS by providing unique and innovative experiences and learning opportunities for RISKWORLD attendees related to DEI,” says Omari Jahi Aarons, NAAIA Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer. “Attendees will experience the inspiration and thought leadership that are the hallmarks of the NAAIA experience.”

  • African American Community Meet Up: a networking session is designed to bring together Black RISKWORLD attendees and allies in a safe and inclusive environment. Featuring Stasi Bobo-Ligon, VP Global Relationship Leader at Zurich and Tevin Smith, SVP, Head of Technology & Operations at NFP, on May 1 from 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm. 

  • NAAIA DEI Reception cosponsored by the Asian American Insurance Network (AAIN) and featuring Aarons, Gary LaBranche, President and CEO of RIMS, and AAIN Executive Board Member Angela Lee, SVP, Regional Claims Director at Marsh McLennan Agency. Join NAAIA and AAIN for food, fun, and fellowship at the Omni Hotel’s New South Kitchen on May 1 from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. 

  • Next Steps on the Journey workshop: insights from the second study presented by Aarons, Renée M. Collins, AVP, Business Insurance Field Operations at Travelers, and Dr. Leroy D. Nunery II, President of Evolution Advisors, LLC on May 2 from 10:45 am - 11:45 am. 

  • DEI Coffee Chat feat Dr. Nunery and National Board Member Dwight Geddes, President of Metro Claims & Risk Mgmt on May 2 from 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm in RIMS Connects booth #655. 


Additionally, students from several historically Black colleges and universities will attend select RISKWORLD events as part of their participation in the HBCU I.M.P.A.C.T.®️ Spring Symposium. HBCU I.M.P.A.C.T. is a nonprofit that works to increase the number of Black professionals in the insurance, risk management, financial services, and legal industries. Co-founders and National Board Members Ngozi Nnaji, Principal at Ako Brokerage Services and Managing Partner of Ako Insurance Consulting, and Rebekah Ratliff, Mediator/Arbitrator at JAMS, and NAAIA member Cameron Alford, Manager, Insurance at CSL Behring, will present “HBCU Risk and Insurance Engagement Roundtable” on May 2 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am.
